Rosie
comes from a large extended family of artists. Her sister Lena Pwerle
is also a painter and senior custodian of Lyentye country. Her brother
Louie, who is now deceased, was also a talented painter and sculptor.
Rosie has two daughters, Julie Pengarte and Amy Napangardi, both of whom
are artists. Rosie still lives in the Utopia region.
Initially
Rosie worked in the medium of batik along with over eighty other women
from the Utopia Region in Central Australia. Her work in batik is featured
in "Utopia - A Picture Story, the Robert Holmes a Court Collection".
Rosie gets
her dreamings from her father's country, Lyente. These include Bush
Plum, body paint (awelye) and Lyente country.
